Greetings from Western Egypt.
firstly, as I know that some of my emails never
got through, thanks to Ben and Valeri for making
myself and Laura so welcome in Marseilles.
Also to Laura for coming along and enduring my frustrations
when Roni wouldn't start and then wouldn't even
switch on, on the morning of my ferry departure
to TUnis.
and now back to Africa:
I have now travelled just over 5000km, of w hich
3350 has been on my bike.
Libya was interesting. Friendly, bloody expensive
and stressful. I covered 1700km in two and a half
days getting through, of which 400km was straight
through a desolate semi a rid region, so I was
worried about breakdowns, fuel consumption and
robberies.
But got through now worries.
I spent a day in Tobruk and went to the cemetery
there to pay my respects.
Tobruk is a hole, I couldn't imagine what it would
be like to have to fight a war there.
I crossed into Egypt yesterday and spent 6 hours
getting through.
At one stage I thought the EGyptians were gong
to refuse me entry!
In the end they let me through, but only with
a 7 day visa, so now I need to shoot through to
Cairo to get it extended.
Once there I plan to relax a few days and try
to get some pictures up onto the site for all
you guys.
Thanks a stack for all the supportive emails,
if I haven't replied to you, I am sorry, but please
keep them coming.
