The last week has
seen me relaxing in Alexandria, as a guest of Omar
Mansour
and then boring my way through beauracracy in Cairo.
A few days in Alexandria was good for the dusty
body and tired mind, where
the order of the day seems to be 'take it easy'.
I had my first medical problem here, when I had
to go to an eye specialist
to have a remnant of the sandstorm removed from
my left eye.
The last few days have been in Cairo, I arrived
a day after all the anti-war
demonstrations and although I felt uneasy on Sun,
I feel quite relaxed now.
Had to go to the SA embassy for letters of reccomnedation
on Sun.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful in there.
Thank you for all your
help.
I am now on day 3 of trying to extend my Egyptian
visa, I cannot believe the
hassle this is proving to be! But at least in
the meantime I have also
received my Sudanese visa (Craig, it only took
me 15 min in the am and then
picked it up in the pm, as opposed to our 6 month
wait in London)
I have also met up with AB (from the HUBB) and
he has been friendly and
helpful as well.
Tonight Laura flys in for a week, we will be
going on a day long desert
braai with friends on Friday, before heading to
the Sinai for a bit of
diving.
